So I Got Into VRChat...

Yeah, for a long time, I have held the misconception that VRChat was a VR-only game. Boy, am I glad I'm wrong.

This is a little weird, but I got into VRChat because of Sora The Troll, a Japanese YouTuber who makes skits comparing real-life Japanese people and anime characters, extreme Japanese lessons, and, of course, videos of him trolling people in VRChat.
My favorite ones are where he attacks people while wearing a VR headset, which, interestingly, were my main motivations. I wanted to "kancho" people and demonstrate my boxing skills...but I don't have a VR headset. -_-

The YouTube algorithm also showed me some videos of Genshin Impact fans in VRChat, and I thought, I may not be able to cosplay my favorite character Xingqiu in real life, but I can definitely do it in VRChat! So, say hello to me!

Greetings. I am Xingqiu, and I'm at your service. Pardon me, I'm finishing this video game. Are there any hilichurls you want me to tear to pieces? Or do you simply need my company?
In my spare time, I study psychology and fight random people anime-style. I am also my parents' butler. (Get the references?)

What Worlds Do You Hang Out In?

Relaxing worlds, in general, are my favorite. Being a lazy martial artist, I enjoy places where I can find inner peace.
Specifically, I enjoy beaches, bedrooms, hotels, and living rooms.
After seeing that these worlds exist, I found a third purpose for being in VRChat: to be in places that would be impossible to be in due to the worldwide lockdown and the fucking Wuhan coronavirus.

I also hang out in Genshin Impact worlds, mainly Mondstadt, but I've also been to the ridiculously popular Angel's Share and Cathedral.
Most people hang out at the Anemo Archon statue because of the memes associated with the statue itself and with Venti and Zhongli, but I prefer the marketplace the most because that's where I do the vast majority of my non-combat activities in Genshin Impact
The Angel's Share is not up to my taste, to be honest. People in there sound like they're drunk, spouting nonsense that I feel like only gang members can understand. Also, I just like the bright atmosphere of the Mondstadt outdoors.

Worlds that aren't in these categories are the "Know Your Friends Better Dice Game" and Udon Boxing.

Now I really wish I had a VR headset because I talked with NachoPizza about a hypothetical Mondstadt brawl for whoever is gonna get Jean as his girlfriend.
But screw that. Buying Hytale is my priority.

Have You Made Any Friends?

Disclaimer

I'm not here in VRChat to get any romantic relationships. VRChat is not designed to be a dating site.

Miyako

Note that this is part of her username. I included her here with permission.

I was bored as usual, so I went to a Genshin Impact avatar world and messed around by voicing the characters. I didn't really care if people were impressed by my voice acting; I just did it for fun. I felt like actually controlling the characters outside of Genshin Impact would help me get in character.

Miyako and her friend, Antico (used with permission), heard me and openly expressed interest in my voice acting, so, not gonna lie, I flexed more voices at them. My favorite one to voice was Xiao because of my real-life anger issues, to which she said, "You have my respect."
Man, photography is hard in VRChat.

Anyway, some background on Miyako: She's an Italian cosplayer, artist, musician, and, of course, weeb who watches a lot of Demon Slayer and Sailor Moon. She knew quite a lot of English, so I was able to fully utilize my English skill (being a tutor for Japanese students lololol). She has played Genshin Impact for 3 months starting with the Ganyu Event Wish. She's currently saving for Ayaka.
(Unfortunately, Antico does not know as much English.)

Her husbando is Chongyun, which, for me, is easy to mimic, so I wasn't able to help myself. I said his Chat: The Art of Exorcism line and added a part about popsicles, so she practically melted.
Hey, girlie, hold still while I kill you.

Though I mainly flexed my voice acting in the afternoon, I met her again later at night. Instead of voice-acting because my parents were asleep (they got disturbed anyway because I acted like I was teaching), we mainly talked about games and real life.
She was in a Yandere Simulator avatar world at the time, so, naturally, we talked about the game. I voice-acted Ayano Aishi, Budo Masuta, and YandereDev a little, I talked about how Kuroko Kamenaga and Keqing share the same voice actress (Kayli Mills), and she told me Oka Ruto is her favorite rival. She thinks my Yandere Simulator waifu, Amai Odayaka, is cute. Aaand...when she swapped to Osana, I swapped to Tartaglia and pretended to threaten to kill her.

Overall, Miyako was very friendly to me. When she briefly mentioned her boyfriend, I casually mentioned that I'm single and I wish all the best for her and her boyfriend. She assured me that I will be able to find the right girl for me.

Moral lesson? Sometimes, you find friends in really weird situations like voice acting. Take opportunities whenever they present themselves to you...like a thief.
(Note that this doesn't work if you use it as a "tactic" for the sole purpose of getting friends. Remember, my main purpose for voice-acting in VRChat was to train my voice.)

Oh yeah. I couldn't help myself, so I asked permission to talk about her in my blog and she said yes. She saw my Rosaria pull attempts and said my writing was very good.
To Miyako: I hope you get better at what you do. I'm happy that my writing and voice acting have inspired you.

Wolf Voice

I haven't asked for his permission to be included in my blog, so I'll give him the fake name "Wolf Voice".

Wolf Voice said hi to me from behind while I was casually exploring Mondstadt...and I mistook his real voice for an impression of his avatar, Razor, because I wasn't paying close attention. I was pulling an all-nighter at the time.
Of course, he said he wasn't roleplaying...and then told me that people tell him that all the time.

I can't remember how we introduced ourselves, but much of our conversation was about Genshin Impact.
He's an AR 35 player if I'm not mistaken. He just finished the Liyue story.
His usual team is Razor, Anemo Traveler, Barbara, and Xiangling.

Wolf Voice is actually the first player I've seen who does not play according to the meta. He just plays the characters he likes while most of his other friends are meta slaves.
I guess I've been watching too many Genshin Impact guides.
I feel bad for instinctively telling him to get Bennett, not gonna lie.

We discussed waifus briefly. He thinks Noelle is cute, but he's not super into romance in general, I think.
I replied to him with my desire to drown Amber because Valeria Rodriguez, Sucrose's English voice actress, ships Amber and Sucrose. He got confused by my logic and...not gonna lie, hearing him narrate my own thoughts made me LOL big-time at my own logic.
(Why drowning? Because it's a Yandere Simulator elimination method, Hydro is super effective against Pyro, and mah boi Tartaglia recommends it.)

The next time we met, we talked about life in general, but I can't talk about it here without his permission. I feel like what we talked about might be too sensitive.
I will tell you that we took a turtle trip in the Deep Blue world where we dove underwater.
Coincidentally, Bennett and Xingqiu share the same English voice actress, Cristina Valenzuela, so I felt like I was fueling the Bennett x Razor ship that originated in the Windblume Festival.

I don't plan on making any more friends in VRChat, though. My focus is exploring worlds and feeling relaxed.
I want to hang out with some of my old real-life friends, though.

Do You Plan to Troll Just Like Sora The Troll?

Definitely, but I want to keep it light with a minimal annoyance factor.

I usually only troll in Mondstadt as a hilichurl (PC)/garbage man (Quest). I take the Mondstadt NPCs' positions and say their voiced lines, most notably Timaeus's "Ah, ancient alchemy truly is fascinating." because people talk a lot near the fountain at the marketplace area.
I can also do Sara's "Today's recommendation is the steak.", Wagner's "Take your pick. You'll find no second-rate items at Wagner's.", and the dialogue of the Fatui members near the Teleport Waypoint, "Have you heard? The Rite of Parting..." "The Rite of Parting? Did something terrible happen again?"
When someone is exploring, I try to intercept them when they're about to reach a place that has an NPC whose voice I know, such as Shiliu's "Jewels from Liyue! Come take a look!"

I don't wanna copy much of what Sora The Troll does, even if I become fluent in Japanese. However, I WOULD teach boxing then challenge people to fights with my Tartaglia avatar.

Avatars I Use and When

I mostly keep Genshin Impact avatars for roleplay purposes.

A handful of others are from Fire Emblem and Yandere Simulator, including Ayano Aishi, Budo Masuta, Dimitri, Gema Taku, Midori Gurin, and male Robin.

The ones I use the most are Sucrose and Zhongli.
Sucrose because, since she's a shy alchemist, I use it to indicate I'm not interested in talking to the crowds of weirdos.
Zhongli because people REALLY like my Zhongli voice. (Probably not so much when I say Nazeem's line: "Do you get to the Cloud District very often? Oh, what am I saying--of course you don't.")

I usually use Tartaglia when I'm either being flirty or I'm about to fight or be fought. Griffin Burns is famous for making covers of songs, mainly love songs, using Tartaglia's voice.

I use Dimitri when I'm roleplaying either Dainsleif or Dimitri. I try to mash up the two characters together, saying I'm hunting both the Abyss Order and those who slither in the dark, along with a helpful dose of "KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!" (daytime) or "I must kill them. Every last one." (nighttime 'cause my parents are asleep).

I use Aether, the male Traveler, when roleplaying male Byleth (both characters are voiced by Zach Aguilar) or the Korean animator Gimnaeng.
The specific Aether I use can swap between all 7 elements, so I use Pyro.

I use Bennett when exploring worlds 'cause, to me, he's the most stereotypical adventurer of all the playable characters.
But...hardly anyone pays attention when I use Bennett. At worst, they tell me to "shut the fuck up." I guess people think Bennett's English voice is meh.

I might consider using Midori for trolling in Mondstadt as well.

For general purposes or if I'm lazy to swap, I use Xingqiu as my main avatar. I think I'm the most similar to him among the Genshin Impact characters because I'm a skilled martial artist who enjoys lore and heroes.
When people engage me in a nice conversation after I voice-act or troll, I also swap to Xingqiu and use my normal voice.

Other situational avatars:
  • Jean for yeeting, talking about yeeting, or trolling players with Klee avatars. I once went to Akademi High School and used Jean to yeet a dumbbell on another player in the gym area (where the Drama Club practices).
  • Kaeya for when I wanna go fast. All avatars actually move at the same speed depending on the world; I just like Kaeya because of his tall height making him the fastest in Genshin Impact while his Passive Talent 3 decreases sprinting Stamina consumption.
  • Razor. I like his easy-to-mimic voice and short lines. I also sometimes try to "MUDA MUDA MUDA" using Giorno's voice...but I suck at it.

I wished for Rosaria. I was half-satisfied, half-disappointed.

TL;DR summary: I got 0 Rosarias, 1 Diluc, 2 Barbaras, 4 Fischls, and 4 weapons. Yay, Diluc. Yay, C6 Fischl. RIP Rosaria.

I got a 3rd off-screen Barbara 'cause I forgot I could still buy Intertwined Fates for Masterless Stardust. (When I started wishing, I didn't have enough Stardust.)

Ah, the Tartaglia banner re-run. Man, they really like slapping these three free characters (Barbara on this one, Noelle on Venti, Xiangling on Hu Tao) on these enticing banners, don't they? As if the Wallet's Gravestone wasn't enough mind torture (especially on Tectone).
I think, early on in Genshin Impact's lifespan, there wasn't much rage on getting unwanted 4-stars and/or failing to get desired 4-stars. I ALMOST lost the opportunity to get Diona on Tartaglia's first run and I panicked, not gonna lie.
The unwanted item rage started a little when Zhongli was ongoing; people (including me) were getting Monas left and right. The rage got fueled when Albedo came out; some people wanted Bennett instead of Albedo. Of course, it reached its height after the Wolf's Gravestone/Staff of Homa banner came out; Hu Tao was a highly anticipated character and the Staff of Homa was proven to be extremely strong for Xiangling and Zhongli (not as much for Xiao who benefits the most from Primordial Jade Winged-Spear), yet most players seemed to be getting the Wolf's Gravestone, leading to the nicknames Wallet's Gravestone and Staff of Homeless.
After all, in theory, not counting failures to get featured characters/weapons, your chance of getting one of the featured 4-star characters is 33.3% and the chance for a specific featured 5-star is 50%...right? Yeah...let our many Barbaras and R5 Wallet's Gravestones speak for us.

Ritual

Of course, I brought my KFC utensils because of the Genshin Impact collaboration.

I brought my green jacket even though none of the featured characters were associated with the color green. I just think Tectone is cool. Also, my Author Avatar wears a green jacket so I might as well establish a persona like CaptainSparklez's green shorts and black shirt.

I didn't shower because I got lazy.

Throughout the video, I repeatedly said only positive (and exaggerated) things about Barbara to be ironic, considering that, when I was younger, in the Philippines, if Mom and I look for a bus, for example, all we see are taxis. The idea was, if I pretend to hate Rosaria and like Barbara. the game will give me the character I hate. (For Fischl, I said she was OK.)
But I made it clear before praising Barbara that my REAL goal was to get Rosaria just in case some people take my pro-Barbara statements seriously and get the wrong idea.

My team was Tartaglia, Barbara, Noelle, and Xiangling, with Barbara as the active character.
I chose Tartaglia because Hackoru did a video where he was wishing for Tartaglia on his first banner run which didn't have Barbara. Although it's obviously staged, he got 10 Barbaras. The current Tartaglia banner actually has Barbara.
Barbara was chosen for obvious reasons.
Noelle and Xiangling were chosen because they are the other free characters featured in the banners.

I chose Stormterror's Lair because of the depressing music.
The Church of Favonius is overrated because Rosaria also works there...kind of.

I wanted to use a magazine with a female celebrity, but I forgot we had one, so I assumed we didn't have any.

Our Reactions

I'm not yet good at commentary, so, not gonna lie, I used NachoPizza as filler, so I interviewed him a little like how Zach Aguilar (voice of Aether) does it with the other Genshin Impact voice actors.

I started with the question, "What do you think will be my first 4-star pull?"
He answered, "Favonius Warbow."
I was honestly surprised. In fact, later, I pulled 2 Favonius Codexes. Though he wasn't 100% accurate, he was satisfied with his prediction and I'm cool with it.

Not gonna lie, I obviously fake-smiled every time I got Barbara. Normally, if I get a character I want, I would fist-pump and shout, just like I did with Diluc and Venti.

I didn't expect to pull a whopping 4 Fischls in this session. Before wishing, I had a C4 Fischl, so 2 Fischls were wasted.
NachoPizza was extremely envious of my luck. Fischl is his waifu and, to be honest, I would've been happy to trade away my extra Fischls in exchange for consuming Primogems (like how trading Pokémon in Pokémon GO costs Stardust)...but nooo, we can't! His Fischl is stuck at a boring C0.
(I wonder what Nacho would think of me trading away 6 Fischls for his one Rosaria? I'm serious. C2 Fischl is fine with me. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY PRIMOGEMS!)

I don't know why I didn't feel so much emotion when I saw the 5-star on-screen at 70 pulls. Normally, I would be nervous, even though I wanted someone except for Tartaglia so that I'm guaranteed a Cocogoat on her re-run.
Maybe it's because, at the same time, I wanted a C1 Tartaglia. C0 requires heavy investment for F2P players to be able to end fights quickly without going on cooldown, especially in the Spiral Abyss.
Another funny thing is that I didn't even prepare my brain for a Mona which is my least desired 5-star character in the 5-star pool.
(How would I have felt after the summoning session if I got Jean instead of Diluc?)

Anyway, in our first few weeks of playing Genshin Impact, my old friends Aby and YoSquid got Venti and Diluc, respectively. Thankfully, I was never super envious of them, but I honestly feel bad for them for quitting the game despite their ridiculously good pulls.
Now I feel even worse for them because I have both of those characters.

Overall, it was bittersweet. I give it a 6/10.
Diluc is somewhere in the middle in terms of consistency with hitting 3 elements (Cryo, Dendro, and Geo) super effectively, though leaning more on the Klee side than the Xinyan side. I don't plan to seriously raise him for now just in case I get Rosaria who I had originally prepared for; plus, I'm just used to Xinyan.
C6 Fischl makes it much easier to spread and spam Electro simply by attacking with any character while Oz is deployed. The 2-second extension is always nice.
I actually predicted a C6 Barbara considering other YouTubers were getting Barbara the most often, but I ended with a C4 (C5 off-screen).
The worst part was I expected to get a C1 Rosaria and walk away with about 30 wishes remaining. I ended with no wishes or Rosaria.

Yeah, I've been irony'd. I thought Fischl would be the rarest of the 4-stars.
Unfortunately, that was the case for NachoPizza who got 0 Fischls.

NachoPizza's Summoning

Nacho confirmed to me that he doesn't do any rituals.

He wasted 40 wishes and got 2 weapons, 1 Barbara, and 1 Rosaria.

Thankfully, he didn't pull any 5-stars. We're both saving for the Cocogoat...kind of. He's planning to pull for Eula for now then the Cocogoat later.

There's this weird "luck aura" around NachoPizza where his friends get the characters he wants sooner than him.
Fischl was merely an OK for me, but I got 4 Fischls vs. 3 Barbaras.
His other friends also got Keqing sooner than him.
He told me this also happens to him in Pokémon GO.

Oddly, he also told me that one of his friends got Jean.
Do I have a mini luck aura or something?
Nacho has Qiqi who I like. I need someone who can help me hunt those Liyue specialties.
He's not even using Rosaria a lot--he's fully committed to the Cocogoat and Eula.

Aby and YoSquid, if you want a taste of my luck aura, just come back to Genshin Impact. lololol

Future Plans

Nope, I'm not giving up. Not while Tartaglia's re-run is ongoing. I'll keep pushing for Rosaria until I get her. After all, as a Pokéfan, I follow the rule of "gotta catch 'em all!"

I need to remind myself to do x10 wishes this time. This way, I will always know I'm getting at least 1 4-star and I can record my Rosaria reaction, even if the video will be less than a minute long.

I don't trust my luck on the Standard Wish, after all. I keep getting freakin' weapons.

We still have the Oceanid and Liben events, after all, so we have more opportunities to pull before Thanos snaps away Tartaglia for the 2nd time.

As for potentially pulling Tartaglia outside of pity...I don't think it'll happen. After all, as a Fire Emblem unit, my Luck growth rate is 37%...so it shouldn't be too bad, right? (This is about average in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.)

I want to make a "4 Horsemen of Difficult-to-Pull Stuff" meme with Bennett, Rosaria, and the Staff of Homeless, but I don't know what the 4th horseman would be. Maybe we should wait for another banner.
What we probably CAN make right now is a list of "4 Horsemen of 'I Don't Want to Pull You'" with Albedo, Barbara, Keqing, and the Wallet's Gravestone.

Just wait for a Rosaria re-run that doesn't have Barbara, Noelle, or Xiangling!
No thanks. I don't care if it's a pitfall; the sooner I get Rosaria, the better.

Edit, April 24, 2021: Nah, screw it. I give up. I used my last 10-pull for 1.4 on Tartaglia...and believe it or not, I got 1 Tartaglia, 1 Mona, and 1 Fischl. Seriously, my luck is getting weird.

At least I still have a 100% Cocogoat chance.

NachoPizza is convincing me to get Eula just because she's hot, but sorry, man. I already have Xinyan as a physical DPS and I've raised Kaeya as a Cryo DPS.

Wednesday, April 7, 2021

I finally built Tartaglia. (His artifacts bad tho.)

I have always planned to use Tartaglia as my secondary main DPS since I got him on his first Event Wish run, but I temporarily paused on building him in favor of building Klee, Venti, and Xinyan. I needed Klee and Xinyan for targeting 3 elements weak to them (Cryo, Dendro, and Geo), while I just plain like Venti.

The thing about the Hydro element is it really only has good matchups against Pyro enemies which Hydro can Vaporize.
Electro-Charged has no effect on foes that are immune to Electro. Similarly, some Cryo foes like Cryo Slimes, as well as many bosses, cannot be Frozen. In other words, Tartaglia's attacks simply deal DMG with no additional effect to these foes.
On the other hand, most other elements only have one way to stop them: have an enemy that is immune to that element. (Even Superconduct, which deals Cryo DMG, still drops the Physical RES of foes that are immune to Cryo.)
(Note that I'm not asking for a Hydro buff. I'm okay as it is. Frozen and 2x Vaporize are pretty poggers.)

Why the bad video quality and lag?

Yeah...my PC is only good for playing Genshin Impact, not recording it. I only have 8 GB RAM at the moment while the recommended RAM is 12 GB.

I won't get a RAM upgrade until I can confirm that Hytale also slows down when recording.
